Servicing Construction

HELICOPTERSNZ have assisted with many construction operations throughout the country. One of the earliest services provided was for the New Zealand Electricity Department in 1969.

HELICOPTERSNZ's real strength is that we have experience across all facets of construction, in particular the building industry and placement of buildings in remote locations eg. huts to Abel Tasman and holiday homes to the Marlborough Sounds.

Construction Contracts have included
Stratford - Huntly 220 Kv Line
The initial involvement was in the trial use of helicopters for use on the line, and subsequently we were successful with Contract 537. Carriage of concrete and construction of two hundred & twenty towers over a total of 500 hours flying. Contract duration - 2 years.

Kikiwa - Inangahua 220 Kv Line
Carriage of concrete, reinforcing and passengers. Contractor also constructed eleven towers and ran 22 kilometres of pilot line for winching of the conductors.
Contract duration - 13 months.

HELICOPTERSNZ have also assisted with other construction projects, including tower base sites adjacent to Napier, repair of tower foundations at Benmore, repair to tower foundations in the Awatere Valley and transport of concrete on the Alexandra Section of the Roxburgh Line.
